To: IG, YOU can call OPD directly @ (510)777-3333, and give them the exact location, description of people who are selling, vehicle(s) that may/may not have more merchandise, etc., or contact the Warriors office at the Coliseum (they can notify the league office/Feds, etc.).
I always notify OPD but since the call goes into the non-emergency line the issue is almost never addressed. SeeClickFix, among other benefits, allows us to capture statistics...which is important. I am not saying that selling bootleg merchandise is Oakland's most pressing issue but it is a legitimate issue that has to do with people ripping off the team that has done so much for our city.
There's another vendor regularly selling Warriors merchandise at the corner of Lakeshore and Lake Park. Last week, OPD gave the operator a warning after getting a complaint about his unsafe driving. They made no effort to close him down. This is part of a bigger problem regarding unlicensed vendors setting up throughout the city.
Still, this particular issue, extends way beyond the scope of the city. There are also federal tax laws, and trademark laws being violated, and the IRS, among other agencies, have more resources that they can put towards this. Also, the Alameda County Sheriff's office can also handle these types of cases, as they and the CHP often assist OPD with certain things.
The official Warriors Merchandise store (not to mention the thousands of fans) are well aware of these vendors and apparently not bothered by them - vendors are also set up in the walkway between BART and the Oracle - more than obvious. Don't we have enough issues here in our city without bothering vendors of Warriors merchandise and customers of low prices for decent stuff? Not everyone can afford "officially" high prices for a shirt. This business will end soon enough and hopefully go on through the finals!
